Chemical Dependency Aide — Withdrawal Management

Minimum Qualifications:

One (1) year experience in mental health or in the medical health care field or, One (1)year of education or training in alcohol and drug treatment, or One (1) year experience in a substance abuse inpatient treatment facility, or One (1) year combination of experience and training which demonstrates ability to successfully perform the duties of this job. Must manually lift or assist in lifting an adult, following proper lifting requirements.

The incumbent must provide and maintain on file a current First Aid Card, a CPR Card, and a Food and Beverage Handlers Card. The incumbent must successfully pass a criminal history background check. The incumbent must have a valid/current Washington State Driver’s License and provide proof of auto insurance. The incumbent must be insurable by agency’s insurance carrier in order to drive agency owned vehicles or when driving private vehicle for work.

  • Knowledge and ability to use computer and computer programs to include word, excel and access.
  • Knowledge and ability to take and record vital signs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff.
  • Ability to write legibly and communicate in both written and verbal forms.
  • Ability to record concise and accurate information in medical log.
  • Ability to work with potentially difficult patients.
  • Ability to lift or assist in lifting and adult, as required.
  • Ability to work independently or as a team member, as required.
  • Ability to follow directives.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to problem solves.
  • Ability to be dependable and reliable in attendance.

Duties:

  • Lift or assist in lifting an adult, as required.
  • Lift and/or carry food and supplies, as required.
  • Answers telephone and completes telephone screening forms and report information to Nurse.
  • Perform non-medical intake on incoming patients.
  • Logs and stores patient’s personal belongings.
  • Take and record vital signs per protocol.
  • Performs Alco meter testing upon admittance to sobering.
  • Distribute supplies to patients.
  • Prepares and serve meals and beverages, as required.
  • Monitors patient intake of food and liquids.
  • Monitor activities and behaviors of patients.
  • Reports patient behavior to Nurse.
  • Assist Nurse with patient in an emergency, as directed.
  • Inventories supplies.
  • Arrange, store and stock supplies.
  • Coordinates with Nurse for discharge of patient.
  • Remove bedding, clean linen, sanitize and make bed.
  • Wash, dry, fold and store laundry.
  • Clean bathroom, showers, tubs, sinks and toilets.
  • Sweep and mop file floors.
  • Vacuum all carpeted areas.
  • Wash windows, as required.
  • Cleans lobby and reception areas, as required.
  • Empties garbage cans in patient rooms and in other units, as required.
  • Transports food and supplies, as required.
  • Make rounds at beginning and end of each assigned shift with on coming and off going Aide.
  • Consults with Nurse on duty as needed and follow protocols.
  • Other duties as assigned.
