Tacoma considering more sanctioned homeless camps

Shelters in Tacoma are at full capacity and people are being turned away and placed on waiting lists for shelter beds every day. The city of Tacoma is considering changes to its codes to allow up to six sanctioned camps to be sited across the city as a form of temporary shelter to ease this burden, but will it be enough? As we await the numbers from this year’s Point-In-Time count, it is believed that the number of those experiencing homelessness has increased.  KIRO 7 News sheds some light on this plan, and how it can help to better serve those in need in our community.
